The French Cinema Festival will be brought to eleven different cities
From Faro to Viana do Castelo, there’ll be French cinema for everybody’s fancy. It’s the 19th edition of the festival that brings to the public the great diversity of made-in France cinema
International and national previews, discoveries and rediscoveries of great masterpieces and great household names, meetings, masterclasses, and even school sessions will complete the vast program that will spread from the 4thof October to the 11thof November in 11 Portuguese cities: Lisbon, Almada, Porto, Leiria, Coimbra, Beja, faro, Viana do Castelo, Seixal, Aveiro, and Setúbal.
Jean-Paul Rappeneau, renowned screenwriter and director will organize this edition and he himself will be present in Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon on the 4thof October for the grand opening. He will present a remastered copy of his masterpiece Cyrano de Bergerac for the very first time.

Cinemateca Portuguesa presents eight movies by Clouzot in a retrospective on the well-famed director of the 40s and 50s. Between those eight works, the organization highlights Le Mystère Picasso, which was awarded a special prize by the Cannes Jury in 1956 and has been “declared a national treasure by the French government”.

Another highlight will be the 19 national and international previews, a wide program that gives a glimpse of the French cinema panorama these days- there’s drama, comedy, documentary, crime films and animated ones.
The ACID Cycle focuses on independent and rare films which will be introduced by their directors who will also teach masterclasses about them.
With school sessions in all 11 cities and a dedicated program on Cinemundo TV channel, this French cinema show culminates with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Lisbon-Paris Friendship Treaty on the 12th October at 3 pm in Cinema São Jorge with a conference by Antoine Sire on Women and Cinema’s Golden Age.
