Officially, the calendar has already marked autumn season, but on the streets of Lisbon it is still sunny, making the cold seems like a distant memory. For true ice cream lovers, disregarding the temperature, this delicacy tastes good any time of year. But while it's hot, who is is strong enough to resist it?

Do not fight  and try one of the ice cream stores we advise you to check out. Or several. We guarantee that you will not regret.

 

Santini 

Santini is an unavoidable name when it comes to ice cream parlors of Lisbon. It opened its doors in 1949 in Tamariz, being the first Italian ice cream parlors to settle in Portugal. It currently has stores in  Chiado, Cascais, Estoril, Carcavelos,  Belém and more recently in Porto. This store offers a list with over 40 different flavors, such as pineapple of São Miguel, Amaretto biscuit, brigadier or tangerine.

 

Paletaria

This is the space where you can eat natural and traditional ice cream at chopstick classic. The Paletaria is the creation of Sergio Garcês, who graduated from the famous Cordon Bleu school in Paris. All ice cream in this space are made fresh fruit base purchased in the Bairro Alto markets, except the taste of candy eggs and Somersby. Every day a small production is made, which also includes ice cream with filling and without sugar.

 

Nannarella

The Nannarella is proud to have been making ice cream according to the traditional recipe from Italy. It was created with this objective, moreover,  the owners Filippo Licitro and Constanza Ventura, went from Rome to St. Benedict, to bring to the Portuguese capital the most delicious and traditional Italian ice cream.

This ice cream parlor opened in 2013 and serves natural ice cream, no artificial colorants or preservatives, that despite the sales is Italian inspired offered to Portuguese cuisine, being made with seasonal fruit. In Nannarella you can find about 15-18 flavors daily, which can be chosen to be accompanied by fresh cream.

 

Gelato Davvero

Rua Cor-de-Rosa in the Cais do Sodre, may be best known for having a drink. But in fact, it is also a great option when you get the desire to eat an ice cream. Gelato Davvero is situated at Praça de São Paulo and was created by childhood friends Filippo Licitra and Riccardo Farabegoli. In Davvero you will find the most traditional flavors like chocolate, watermelon and strawberry, but also other unusual ones, like Parmesan ice cream or Moët & Chandon. There are also vegan options available.
