Live a Fairytale at the Lapa Palace

Lapa Palace

The Olissippo Lapa Palace is located in the historic district of Lapa and offers you fabulous views of the Tagus River

Planning a trip to Lisbon? Then get to know the Olissipo Lapa Palace, a luxurious palace built in the 19th century surrounded by a subtropical garden, located in the top of a hill overlooking the Tagus River. This is one of the most romantic hotels in Lisbon, with its sumptuous interiors and richly decorated rooms, as well as a spa, indoor and outdoor pools. The food and service are top notch, as it would be expectable.

This beautiful palace is located in the historical district of Lapa, the noblest neighbourhood of Lisbon. The origin of Lapa dates back to the period after the earthquake of 1755, when the first Baron of Porto Covo, Jacinto Fernandes Bandeira, built his house on the street of São Domingos, starting the construction of the neighborhood of Lapa. Since that date, Lapa has become the main residence of the nobility and upper class of Lisbon.

One of the charms of Lapa Palace is the extensive green area at the rear. One of the artists who participated in the decoration of the palace was Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, a famous portuguese ceramist of the 19th century, who created some furniture and tiles for the palace. His brother Columbano, a great painter of the time, painted the walls and ceilings of the Columbano Hall, the Palace's former ballroom.

Nowadays, after a renovation process, the Lapa Palace maintains the original features, such as stained glass, furniture and a 170 year old carpet. In 2012 a new wing was opened, the Villa, which has 2 suites, 4 junior suites and 8 rooms, all with terraces and garden views. The palace has three distinct wings, the Palace wing, the Garden wing and Villa Lapa, with a total of 109 rooms. These are all bright and airy and include a spacious seating area, satellite TV and a marble bathroom.

In Olissipo Lapa Palace you always have excuses to relax. The outdoor pool, built among the quiet gardens, invites you to linger. This is heated from May to September. In the cold months you can choose the heated indoor swimming pool, which is located in the spa. Also in the spa, you’ll find a sauna and a turkish bath as well as massage therapists. There is also a modern and well equipped gym.

Lapa Palace's restaurant offers mediterranean food and regional wines while the Le Pavillion, open during the summer, serves cocktails, homemade ice tea and fruit juices to enjoy around the pool. On warmer days, you can also enjoy your meal on the terrace. In Lapa Palace there is also the Rio Tejo Bar, ideal for a business meeting or a drink.
