51, R. das Gáveas
1200-206 Lisbon
In 1955, Júlio de Barros Evangelista and Maria José de Barros Evangelista inaugurated the restaurant ''A Severa''. Its name was inspired by the story of a former gypsy women who was the most celebrated fado singer of her time ( the 19th century). ''A Severa'' is Lisbon´s oldest fado house to remain in the hands of the original family - now in its third generation. Famed for both its fine dining and its good fado, it is a Lisbon icon, visited by the best fadistas in the history of the art. Located in one of Lisbon´s most traditional neighborhoods, the Bairro Alto, ''A Severa'' guarantees a memorable night during which you can listen to fado and try traditional Portuguese cuisine in a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
